This is our most popular package for first-time visitors to North India, couples on a short holiday, families with children and small corporate groups adding a leisure leg to a business trip. The pace is moderate: two heavy sightseeing days (Agra and Jaipur), one light arrival day, one light departure day and two travel-plus-sightseeing days in between. If you prefer a faster version we can compress it to 4 days; if you want to add Pushkar, Ranthambore or the Taj Mahal at sunrise with a second night in Agra, we rearrange without extra drama.

We run this route almost every week of the year, which matters in three practical ways. Our drivers know which monuments close on which weekday (the Taj Mahal is shut on Fridays, Red Fort on Mondays), which lunch stops on the Yamuna Expressway are hygienic, and which hotel pick-up gates avoid Jaipur's evening traffic. We do not sub-contract the drive — the same chauffeur stays with you from Delhi arrival to Delhi departure, so nothing gets lost in handover. Billing is transparent, with GST invoices raised in your company name if you need them for reimbursement.

Delhi to Agra is 230 km on the Yamuna Expressway, comfortably done in 3.5 to 4 hours with one break. Agra to Jaipur is 240 km via Fatehpur Sikri, roughly 5 to 6 hours including the monument stop and a lunch halt. Jaipur back to Delhi is 270 km on NH48, 5 to 5.5 hours if you leave before the morning traffic builds. All inter-city drives are during daylight. The vehicle carries bottled water, phone chargers and a first-aid kit; Wi-Fi hotspots are available on request.

We pre-book Taj Mahal tickets online 24 hours before your visit to skip the cash counter queue — please share passport details at booking. Tripods, selfie sticks and drones are disallowed at all three cities' central monuments; phone photography is fine. Dress code for the Taj Mahal complex and Jama Masjid requires knee-length clothing; scarves are kept in the vehicle for sudden temple or mosque stops. For connectivity, Airtel and Jio both offer tourist SIMs at Delhi airport — an eSIM from Airalo or similar works seamlessly from landing. Payments: UPI and cards are accepted almost everywhere, but keep a modest cash reserve per person for tips, temple donations and the odd shop that has no card machine. Seasonal note: late October to early November occasionally has haze from post-harvest stubble burning in Punjab; it clears by late November.

Shorter Rajasthan tours sell well on price but spend four of their seven days driving. Our 10-day build reverses that ratio — you drive on only five days (all of them under six hours of wheels-on-road) and spend five full days on the ground in the four headline cities. This matters in Jodhpur and Udaipur particularly: Mehrangarh deserves half a day, Clock Tower and the spice market deserve an evening, Udaipur's City Palace is a three-hour walk, Bagore ki Haveli evening show and the Lake Pichola boat need a second night. If you have only 7 days, take the Desert or Golden Triangle instead — we prefer not to sell a 7-day Heritage because it forces cuts we do not endorse.

For this route we default to the 4-star heritage tier because modern chain hotels do not exist in the right architectural idiom outside Jaipur. Our regular partners include Samode Haveli or Alsisar Haveli in Jaipur, Pushkar Bagh in Pushkar, RAAS Jodhpur or Raas Haveli in Jodhpur, Aodhi at Kumbhalgarh (optional stop) and Fateh Prakash Palace or Taj Fateh Prakash in Udaipur. If you upgrade to 5-star we switch to Rambagh Palace, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Taj Lake Palace respectively — these are genuinely among the best hotels in the world and booking 90 days ahead is not optional in peak season. Hotel rates are quoted separately so you can see exactly what each tier costs.

Delhi → Jaipur 270 km / 5 hrs on NH48; Jaipur → Pushkar 145 km / 3 hrs on NH48 via Kishangarh; Pushkar → Jodhpur 200 km / 4 hrs via Merta and Pali; Jodhpur → Ranakpur → Udaipur 250 km / 6 hrs including the Jain temple halt (lunch at Ranakpur is a good plan); Udaipur → Udaipur airport or onward 35 km / 1 hr. All drives are divided highway for over 80% of the distance. Evening arrivals are avoided so you check in during daylight and have time to settle before dinner.

In Jaipur, our chauffeurs park at the Amer jeep base (not the elephant ramp) so you skip the welfare debate entirely and start the climb faster. In Pushkar, they know which lake ghats allow photography (some are restricted for women during bathing hours) and which local guide is certified by the temple trust. In Jodhpur, they use the rear entry to Mehrangarh on the Jaswant Thada side, which cuts 20 minutes off the approach drive. In Udaipur they drop you at the Gangaur Ghat for the boat rather than the more crowded Bansi Ghat. Small things, repeated across 50 weeks a year.

The most common mistake on desert tours is a single-night stop at Jaisalmer. Yet the fort, Patwon ki Haveli and Gadisar Lake alone need half a day, the Sam dunes and a camp dinner take another half-day, and a proper morning at Kuldhara and Bada Bagh — the most photogenic part of the trip — needs its own slot. Two nights at Jaisalmer gives you all three blocks without compression. If you only have six nights total, we move Bikaner to a day-stop instead of an overnight.

There are three distinct types of desert camp near Jaisalmer. Sam (45 km west) is the classic camel-safari cluster — busy, family-friendly, with nightly folk performances. Khuri (40 km south-west) is quieter and more traditional, preferred by photographers and return visitors. Premium desert resorts like Suryagarh or Rawla Jaisalmer run year-round and give you an ensuite dune experience without the shared-camp atmosphere. We usually recommend Khuri for couples and Sam for first-timers or families with kids; we switch to Suryagarh for the honeymoon crowd.

The Jodhpur–Bikaner stretch is 240 km of good divided highway (NH62), 5 hours with one tea halt. Bikaner–Jaisalmer is 330 km via Phalodi on NH15 — 6 hours, single-carriageway in parts, reasonable pace. The Jaisalmer city-to-dunes run is 45 km of desert highway. Fuel-station density drops sharply west of Phalodi, so we top up before leaving Bikaner in the morning. Winter mornings (December–January) are cold — 5–8°C at sunrise — and the return from a dune camp at dawn needs warm layers.

At Junagarh Fort (Bikaner) we enter via the eastern Surajpol to avoid the tourist-bus cluster at the main gate. The Karni Mata temple in Deshnok is best visited early morning (before 9 AM) when the rats are most active and the crowds are thinnest; barefoot is required, so we carry spare socks in the vehicle. At Jaisalmer, our drivers park at the Dussehra Chowk (outside the fort) and walk you up through the Amar Sagar Pol — guides who drive inside the narrow lanes damage the 900-year-old base. For Tanot Mata (on the border near the Longewala battlefield), we get the permit for you 48 hours in advance; you will need your passport and a filled BSF form.

Tiger sightings at Ranthambore are not guaranteed. Zone allocation is a government lottery, tigers move between zones, and a single unlucky draw can mean you see peacocks and deer only. Four safaris across two days raises your sighting probability from 40–50% (2 safaris) to 75–85% (4 safaris) based on our operating data across 200+ guests in the last three years. We book two morning and two afternoon slots, each in a different zone, using the online Rajasthan Forest Department booking system 90 days in advance.

Safaris at Ranthambore run in either 6-seater 4WD Gypsies or 20-seater canters. We always book Gypsies for this tour. The difference is not luxury — it is the ability to stop quickly, reverse, idle quietly and position for a photograph. On canters you share the vehicle with 18 strangers and are at the mercy of the loudest voice. Gypsy costs are 4x higher per seat; we think it is the most important money on this tour.

Keoladeo (also called Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the few places in India where you can walk a 4-km trail past 100+ species in a single morning. We book a cycle-rickshaw with a naturalist (rickshaw-wallahs at Keoladeo are licensed birders, not generic drivers) for a 3-hour dawn circuit. Dress in layers — early mornings in winter are cold, and the marsh mist lifts slowly.

Most wildlife tours skip Jhalana because it is inside Jaipur city limits and doesn't feel 'wild'. It is, however, India's best-known leopard reserve outside Bera — a 36-sq-km forested pocket with roughly 35–40 resident leopards. Sighting rates are 90%+ in winter. The reserve opens at 6:30 AM, and we book the first safari slot so you are out by 9:30 and have the rest of the day for Jaipur sightseeing if you'd like. Many guests who come for tigers end up finding Jhalana the unexpected highlight.

Jaipur is the bigger city and it works as a finishing flourish, but the first four nights of a honeymoon should happen somewhere that is quiet, romantic and compact. Udaipur is the only major Indian city where you can walk from your hotel to the boat jetty in 10 minutes, take a 45-minute boat at sunset, and be back at your hotel for dinner — no traffic, no ticket queues, no 'logistical coordination.' Kumbhalgarh after Udaipur adds a single starry night in a 3,000-ft-elevation fort resort where the only sound after 9 PM is insects. Jaipur at the end gives you city energy when you're ready for it.

On a Heritage or Desert tour the hotel is a place to sleep. On a honeymoon the hotel is half the experience. The three Udaipur hotels we book most — Taj Lake Palace, Oberoi Udaivilas and Leela Palace — are genuinely different. Taj Lake Palace is on an island and requires boat transfers for every meal (utterly romantic, but the logistics are real). Oberoi Udaivilas is across Lake Pichola with private pools in most suites. Leela Palace is lakefront with the best infinity pool in the city. We walk through the pros and cons of each before booking and make the surprise pre-arrival arrangements with the hotel concierge on your behalf.

Most honeymoon packages skip Kumbhalgarh because it adds a transit day. We include it because every returning couple has called it the calmest night of the trip. Aodhi (The Kumbha Bagh) is a 28-key hunting-lodge-style resort with a small pool, large gardens, and zero cell signal on the property. The fort itself is a 20-minute drive and genuinely impressive — it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the second-longest continuous wall in the world. A Day 4 morning walk on the ramparts before driving down to Ranakpur for lunch is one of the stronger memories this itinerary creates.
