10 Days / 9 Nights
Rajasthan Heritage Tour
Jaipur · Pushkar · Jodhpur · Ranakpur · Udaipur — 10 Days / 9 Nights
Rajasthan's heritage circuit is best done over 10 days, not seven. With nine nights you get two nights each in the four big forts-and-palaces cities — enough to do the marquee monuments in the morning when the light is good, break for a proper lunch, and have one afternoon free for a market wander or a haveli painting session. Our version adds a night in Pushkar (many itineraries only do a four-hour stop) and a dedicated 90-minute Ranakpur halt on the way to Udaipur, so the Jain temple is not rushed. Chauffeur-driven throughout, with heritage hotels at every city and a single operations contact from first night to last.
Tour highlights
- Elephant-era entrance to Amber Fort in Jaipur with an informed historian-guide
- Brahma Temple and dawn aarti on Pushkar Lake (seasonal — avoids the Kartik Purnima crush)
- Mehrangarh Fort audio walk in Jodhpur, widely regarded as India's best-curated fort
- Ranakpur Jain temple halt with dedicated 90-minute visit
- Lake Pichola sunset boat ride past Jag Mandir and Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur
- Heritage-haveli accommodations in at least two cities
- Private chauffeur-driven SUV / sedan for the full 10 days
Why 10 days is the right length
Shorter Rajasthan tours sell well on price but spend four of their seven days driving. Our 10-day build reverses that ratio — you drive on only five days (all of them under six hours of wheels-on-road) and spend five full days on the ground in the four headline cities. This matters in Jodhpur and Udaipur particularly: Mehrangarh deserves half a day, Clock Tower and the spice market deserve an evening, Udaipur's City Palace is a three-hour walk, Bagore ki Haveli evening show and the Lake Pichola boat need a second night. If you have only 7 days, take the Desert or Golden Triangle instead — we prefer not to sell a 7-day Heritage because it forces cuts we do not endorse.
The hotels — why heritage properties are worth the uplift
For this route we default to the 4-star heritage tier because modern chain hotels do not exist in the right architectural idiom outside Jaipur. Our regular partners include Samode Haveli or Alsisar Haveli in Jaipur, Pushkar Bagh in Pushkar, RAAS Jodhpur or Raas Haveli in Jodhpur, Aodhi at Kumbhalgarh (optional stop) and Fateh Prakash Palace or Taj Fateh Prakash in Udaipur. If you upgrade to 5-star we switch to Rambagh Palace, Umaid Bhawan Palace and Taj Lake Palace respectively — these are genuinely among the best hotels in the world and booking 90 days ahead is not optional in peak season. Hotel rates are quoted separately so you can see exactly what each tier costs.
Driving — the five transit days
Delhi → Jaipur 270 km / 5 hrs on NH48; Jaipur → Pushkar 145 km / 3 hrs on NH48 via Kishangarh; Pushkar → Jodhpur 200 km / 4 hrs via Merta and Pali; Jodhpur → Ranakpur → Udaipur 250 km / 6 hrs including the Jain temple halt (lunch at Ranakpur is a good plan); Udaipur → Udaipur airport or onward 35 km / 1 hr. All drives are divided highway for over 80% of the distance. Evening arrivals are avoided so you check in during daylight and have time to settle before dinner.
Specific local knowledge our drivers bring
In Jaipur, our chauffeurs park at the Amer jeep base (not the elephant ramp) so you skip the welfare debate entirely and start the climb faster. In Pushkar, they know which lake ghats allow photography (some are restricted for women during bathing hours) and which local guide is certified by the temple trust. In Jodhpur, they use the rear entry to Mehrangarh on the Jaswant Thada side, which cuts 20 minutes off the approach drive. In Udaipur they drop you at the Gangaur Ghat for the boat rather than the more crowded Bansi Ghat. Small things, repeated across 50 weeks a year.

Frequently asked questions
Can this tour be done in the reverse direction?
Yes — we run it just as often as Udaipur → Jaipur if your flight arrival is into Mumbai or Ahmedabad. The itinerary day count stays the same; we simply flip the hotel bookings. Ending in Delhi is more common for international guests because of the wider onward flight network.
Is Ranakpur really worth the detour?
Yes. It is not a 'stop on the way' — it is a destination in itself. The 15th-century Jain temple has 1,444 carved marble pillars and is one of the most detailed pieces of stone architecture you will see in India. Our itinerary blocks 90 minutes plus a lunch stop, which is the right amount of time.
What is the weather like from October to March?
October–November: warm afternoons (28–32°C), cool mornings. December–January: crisp mornings (6–10°C), sunny afternoons (20–25°C) — evenings need a jacket, especially in Udaipur and Jodhpur. February–March: perfect (15–28°C). Jaipur gets cold mornings in December; pack layers.
Can we add Kumbhalgarh Fort or Chittorgarh to the itinerary?
Yes — both are natural extensions. Kumbhalgarh (the 36-km-wall fort) adds an overnight between Jodhpur and Udaipur. Chittorgarh (the largest fort in India by area) adds 2–3 hours as a Day 7 halt or a morning excursion from Udaipur. We usually recommend Kumbhalgarh over Chittorgarh for first-time visitors.
Are monument entry fees included?
No — monument entry fees are kept separate so the tour quote stays clean. Fees vary by site and nationality; we pay on the day on your behalf and itemise them on your final invoice.
How much local guide support do we need?
For this tour we recommend certified guides on 4 of the 10 days: Jaipur (Day 2), Jodhpur (Day 6), Udaipur (Day 8) and Ranakpur (Day 7). Guide fees are billed separately at actuals. Everywhere else your driver and the monument audio guides are plenty.
Is this tour suitable for senior travellers?
Yes — the 10-day pace is deliberately moderate, with two-night hotel stays in the four main cities so you are not packing every morning. We can also cut driving further by adding a fifth city as a two-night break, or by using domestic flights between Jaipur and Udaipur if mobility is limited.
