Yes — Sam is 40 km west of Jaisalmer (45 minutes) and Khuri is 45 km south-west (1 hour). Both have graded dirt entry from the main road and our Innova or sedan can reach the camp reception. Heavier vehicles are asked to park at the gate.
What is Pokhran worth stopping for?
A fuel halt and a 15-minute detour to Pokhran Fort is enough. The 1998 nuclear test site itself is not publicly accessible; the small fort museum in town is worth a quick look if you are into recent military history.
